On Faith: Is Interfaith Marriage Good?
I speak from personal experience on this matter. My mother was raised in a Buddhist family, with all the specific cultural trappings of the Japanese community in Hawaii. My father was raised in a traditional Italian Catholic family in South Central Los Angeles. However, for nearly ten years of his young adult life, he lived as a sadhu (Hindu monk), in India.

Read Full Story »Pakistani Hindus Take Refuge in Cattle Pen: HAF Concerned
HAF condemned the forced expulsion of Hindu families from their homes in Sindh. The event occurred as witnesses claimed a Hindu boy was caught drinking from a water cooler at a nearby mosque. Several members of the Hindu community were severely beaten and hospitalized. Men, women and children of the community were forced to leave their homes and have taken refuge in a cattle pen.

How do you live your Hindu identity differently than your parents live theirs? This was the question posed to young Hindu writers as part of the Hindu American Foundation's second annual NextGen Essay Contest. Contestants, in two categories based upon their age - 17 - 22 years and 23 - 27 years, were judged on their creativity, focus and style by a four person panel composed of HAF staff and Executive Council members.
